It also describes the KPI for the analyst to ensure good performance at the station, as well as his/her decision rights. SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensure proper analysis of: • Boiler water samples • Water treatment samples • Water tower samples • Follow the procedure for each sample as per Laboratory Manual procedures. • Ensure the proper reagent or chemical is used for specific samples. • Report expired reagents or chemicals to the Laboratory Technician. • Ensure that KPIs are within their operating range and report this to his/her Laboratory Technician. • Ensure specific range data is filled in the non-conformance sheet as per working instructions. • Raise an Incident Report where required. • Ensure good housekeeping at the laboratory station. • Inspect the instruments used for laboratory work. • Report any damage observed on laboratory instruments. • Take reasonable care for his/her own health and safety and the health and safety of other people who may be affected by what he/she does or does not do. • Report any incident that: • May affect his/her health • Has caused an injury • Has impacted the environment • Perform all tasks with awareness towards the prevention of any form of pollution to the surrounding area and environment. • Ensure proper handing over at the end of his/her shift. MUST-HAVE SKILLS • Basic computer knowledge, including: • Excel • Word • PowerPoint • Knowledge and skills to interpret data analysis results. • Skills and knowledge required to check laboratory instrument performance. QUALIFICATIONS • Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Science or equivalent Laboratory Assistant Course. • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar job. • Experience in sugar laboratory procedures will be an added advantage.
